Chester turned in another poor performance to lose 2-1 at home to Esh Winning although the final scoreline flattered Chester somewhat. Esh came close to taking the lead after 18 minutes when a corner from the left found Alan Pegram but his header crashed back off the bar. After 27 minutes a ball into the Esh Area found Alexander Walker but his shot was blocked. Two minutes later Niall Fingleton was played through but he fired his shot well over the bar. After 31 minutes, Callum Boakes
was played through but he shot straight at Maximiliano Coombes. Chester then had Coombes to thank for a couple of good saves which prevented Esh taking the lead and they could consider themselves rather fortunate to reach half-time still level. Esh continued to dominate the second half and made the breakthrough after 75 minutes when the ball was moved down the right and played inside for Nicholas Marley to score. Three minutes later a ball into the Chester area bounced up and
hit the arm of Alexander Walker and Esh were awarded the penalty which was converted by Channon North. Chester pulled a goal back in the last minute but could not find an equaliser.
