Chester turned in a much-improved performance but it was all to no avail as West Allotment scored a late goal to win 2-1. Chester came close to taking the lead after 10 minutes when Nathan Wade III intercepted a clearance and played the ball through to Michael Hepplewhite but his shot went into the side netting. Chester made the breakthrough after 49 minutes when James Connor played the ball
through for Wade to beat the offside trap and slip the ball past keeper Finlay Hodgson. West Allotment came close to an equaliser after 57 minutes when a ball over from the right found Abubaker Salim but his fine strike came back off the post. West Allotment restored parity after 65 minutes when a ball into the Chester area was not cleared and Matthew Hayton pounced to fire home. Chester came
close to regaining the lead after 73 minutes. Hepplewhite was played through and when the keeper raced out, Hepps slipped the ball past him but Michael Scott raced back to clear the ball off the line. West Allotment took the lead after 85 minutes when a corner from the left was headed in by Jack Errington. Deep into stoppage time Salim cut in from the right to hit a powerful drive which Coombes
managed to tip over the bar. Very disappointing to get nothing out of the game as I thought our performance deserved at least a point.
