Chester went down 3-0 at home to Redcar Athletic. Redcar came close to taking the lead after 4 minutes. Paul Young sent in a cross from the right with Jordan Rivis running in but didnt make a good contact and the ball went across the goal and just wide of the far post. Redcar made the breakthrough after 12 minutes when Young beat the offside trap and raced on to fire in. Redcar doubled their lead two minutes later when Adam Preston raced down the right and hit a low cross and Michael Woodhouse fired in at the far post. Redcar increased their lead after 46 minutes when a ball over from the left found Michael Woodhouse in space and fired into the net. After 56 minutes, a long ball into the Redcar area was brought down by Michael Hepplewhite but his attempted lob over the keeper came back off the bar and the ball was cleared. Chester came close to pulling a goal back after 75 minutes when Ricky Fenwicks cross-cum-shot brought a great save from keeper Oliver Simpson. In the last minute, a cross from the right was met by Rivis but Nathan Armin made a good
save from his shot, to tip the ball over the bar.
