Chester le Street started the new season with a comfortable 3-0 win at Carlisle City who were playing their first game in the Northern League, the Cestrians including new signings this season Nathan Armin, Niall Fingleton, Luke Collins and substitute Anthony Lee in their squad
Chester le Street created the first opening after 10 minutes when Dominic Laws received the ball on the right and hit a cross towards the far post but Andrew Clarkson glanced his header just wide of the post. After 19 minutes, a good passing move by Chester saw the ball moved right to Craig Marron and he quickly slipped it on to Owen Henderson but his cross to the far side just failed to find Clarkson.
Carlisle stared to get into the game and after 22 minutes the ball was crossed over from the left to Jordan Palmer but he fired well over the bar from a good position. Four minutes later, another ball was played into Palmer and hw turned well to fire in a shot which brought a good save from Nathan Armin. Two minutes later, Carlisle made another break down the left and it was played back to Robert McCartney who struck a good shot towards the top corner but Armin made a great save to tip the ball over the bar.
Chester le Street made the breakthrough after 50 minutes. The ball was played down the right for Henderson to hit a low cross into the middle and when a defender failed to clear it left Clarkson with and easy tap in. Chester doubled their lead after 64 minutes. A great ball down the left found Niall Fingleton and he raced into the area to hit a cross into the middle for Clarkson to fire in. Chester completed the scoring after 76 minutes when Owen Lancaster played the ball through to Dominic Laws on the left. His shot was blocked and the ball went to the right side and Anthony Lee lobbed the ball back into the far corner of the net.
