The Cestrian’s travelled the long journey to Crewe Alexandra, in search of the 3 points which they needed to get them back to second top position in the league table.
The first half saw quite a few chances for Chester snubbed out on account of the linesman’s flag and the referees whistle (and possibly the lack or curved runs from the Chester-Le-Street strikers). Despite dominating possession, the Cestrian’s were unable to convert their opportunities; until the 44th minute, when the referee awarded a clear penalty. Nichole Havery stepped up and calmly hammered the ball straight down the middle into the roof of the net, to take a deserved lead.
From here in Chester le Street dominated and controlled the game, going 2-0 up on 60 mins when Laura Hockaday headed home a cross from Brogan Prudhoe. Although Crewe pulled a goal back, the Cestrians were never in any danger of Crewe gaining control of the game or threatening any further score. The final score ending 2-1 in Chester le Street Town Ladies favour
