Chester-le-Street Town Ladies welcomed Burnley FC Women to Moor Park it was 4th vs 1st in the league, and were looking to bounce back from the poor performance the previous week away defeat at Barnsley.
Lizzy Thompson-Clarke returned from injury and two new players to the club, Kira Whittle and Shannon Etherington.
With just 5 minutes gone Lizzy Clarke made a run down the left getting herself into the box, she squared up and took a shot that was saved by Burnley’s keeper. Both teams were having some decent chances during the first 15 minutes, there was a good contest in the midfield Chester displaying good passing.
Goalkeeper Robyn Parker was put to the test a few times making plenty of saves, with the Chester defence making final clearances.
Burnley took the lead with a great finish on 24 minutes, which they took into the interval.
On the 55th minute Nichole Havery had a shot at goal from within the 18 yard box but unfortunately it went well over the cross bar. Just a minute later and Lizzy Clarke had a half volley shot producing a great save by Burnley keeper.
Throughout the remainder of the 2nd half Chester le Street had a few chances at goal but they were just unable to get the much-needed equaliser. Final result 1-0 away win for Burnley.
