Match report
Chester le Street won 1-0 at Durham in the Brookes Mileson Northern League Cup. It was a scrappy affair. In the first half, Joshua King tried two long-range shots which went wide of the goal. After 58 minutes, Cameron Nichol curled in a free kick which needed a good save from keeper, Peter Wakefield. Chester should have broken the deadlock after 70 minutes when Chester made a quick break down the right. Scott Robson raced on to hit a low cross to the far side but Joseph Hailes only fired into the side netting from close range. Chester nearly scored a lucky goal after 85 minutes when Scott Pocklington launched a long clearance deep into the Durham half. The ball came off Jack Marley and looped over Wakefield but it went just wide of the post. With the game heading towards penalties, Chester were awarded a penalty when Jack Oliver was fouled as he moved into the area and Michael Hepplewhite converted the penalty.
