FA Womens National League Div 1 (N) Sunday 18 November @ 2:00 PM Moor Park

Following on from the previous weeks defeat of FC United of Manchester in the SSE FA Cup – the Cestrians were eager to get back into league action and looking for another solid performance and more points on the board. The girls were asked to get on the front foot from the off and take the game to Morecambe which is what they did. Within the first minute Katie Ellison raced forward to intercept a pass and launch the first attack of the game. The Cestrians kept up the pressure on Morecambe and had a couple of very decent chances, a great ball smashed across the goal by Lizzy Clarke, her opposite forward Jess Ellison, not quite able to steer the ball in at the far post. On 5 minutes and following constant pressure, the deadlock was broken as Lizzy Clarke raised through and calmly lifted the ball over the keeper from 20 yards. The Cestrians continued to dominate and pressed high making it difficult for Morecambe to clear their lines. They had further chances to extend their lead in the first 20 minutes but had to wait until the 27th minute.  Following a bit of a lull they got their second. Laura Hockaday with a great header from a corner, attacking the ball and giving the keeper no chance. Nichole Havery extended the lead on 37 minutes, with a great toe poke from the edge of the box to go in 3-0 up at the Interval

Chester le Street made two changes for the start of the second half, with Stephanie Lorraine and Jessica Ellison making way for Lynsey Wilkinson and Amy Lawson. After 60 minutes and Nichole Havery struck again, this time a very well worked move starting from the left back Amy Lawson; who beat a player and worked a quick one-two to slide a pass into Havery on the left side of the box, who turned the defender inside out before smashing a goal into the far corner 4-0.  On 65 minutes the Cestrians were forced into another substitution; goalkeeper Robyn Parker clearly suffering and a little light headed, handed the goalkeeper top and gloves to Rachel Mellor and made way for Lucy Jackman. 10 minutes later and Nichole Havery scored her hattrick – this time from the pen spot. After 78 minutes and the Cestrians increased the lead to 6, this time Lizzy Clarke was on the scoresheet. Some more great attacking work down the right, found Lizzy who went in behind the full back and a great finish into the far side netting. The Chester le Street girls should have had another 3 or 4 in the last 10 minutes alone, constantly attacking opening up the defence.

All in all this was a very professional and dominant performance, matched by some very good passing & movement and great finishing.

Team: Robyn Parker (65 mins Lucy Jackman), Katie Ellison, Steph Loraine (46 mins Amy Lawson), Anna Collin (capt), Brogan Prudhoe, Rachel Mellor, Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke, Sarah Burn, Nichole Havery, Laura Hockaday, Jessica Ellison (46 Mins Lindsey Wilkinson)
