Chester le Street Town made the journey to Norton Sports complex for an ENL Div 2 game against a Billingham Synthonia side who had been beaten 4-0 in midweek, and the Cestrians hoping to build on their own previous weeks performance. They started brightly and after 5 mins a a good ball was played through by Josh King to Scott Robson who got in a cross with keeper out of position only for a defender to head for a corner. After 13 mins another fluent move saw Owen Henderson send in a cross but there was no one there on the end to take advantage. At this stage Billingham started to come more into the game and a good counter attack was saved by debutant keeper Max Coombes for the Cestrians. On 20 mins Coombes did well to see out a corner but relief was only short lived as Billingham took the lead on 23 mins as they again broke quickly to fire in a cross which was tucked away at the near post. Coombes was again in action after 28 mins pushing away a drive at the foot of the post, King playing out for a corner. Dominic Tiffany for Billingham was controlling the midfield and he set Connor Smith free on the left to cut in and fire Billingham 2-0 up for an interval lead.
Chester le Street’s woes continued after 47mins and when Alex Bruton for Synthonia turned the defenders inside out to fire beyond Coombes to make it 3-0. Chester le Street forced a corner on 76 mins but Synthonia again broke from away quickly and Louis Johnson fired across keeper Coombes to make it Billingham Synthonia 4 Chester le Street Town 0 which is how the score ended and not a good day at the office for Chester le Street Town
