Chester le street Town were held to a 2-2 draw at Easington Colliery. Chester created the first chance in the fourth minute. A deep cross looked to find Scott Robson, but a defender got in front of him and he failed to make a good contact with the ball and his glancing header bounced just wide of the post. However, with the Colliers’ first chance, they broke the deadlock after 8 minutes. And it all came from a Chester-le-Street corner. Shane O’Brien headed a Chester corner clear, and a good challenge from Ethan Wood won possession out wide left. He burst forward and picked out Jack Pounder who cut in to beat his man and shoot. His effort deflected off a Chester man before hitting the post but the rebound fell to Liam Cooke who fired in. Easington continued to look dangerous. David Vincent lifted a cross into the penalty area looking for Pounder but Jack Wilson managed to get there before Pounder and clear the danger. Chester drew level after 19 minutes when Kieran Megran was played into the area but was pulled back by Shane O’Brien and Craig Marron converted the penalty. After 24 minutes an effort from James Talbot was deflected wide. Shortly afterwards, Pounder was played in but he was ruled offside. After 29 minutes, a throw in was played to Cameron Nichol who turned well to pass the ball to Megran on the edge of the area. Megran fired in a good drive towards the top corner but Keith Finch made a god save to tip the ball over the bar. In the 42nd minute, Ethan Wood burst down the wing and picked out Pounder. He beat Calum Greaves to the ball, but he could only send his difficult effort wide. After 43 minutes, Greaves picked up what looked to be a nasty injury and had to be stretchered off. Chester took the lead after 47 minutes when ball over the top caught Christopher Pearson out, and let Nichol race clear to fire in a shot which clipped the post on its way in to the net. In the 51st minute, a towering Shane O’Brien header from a corner nestled into the net but it was ruled out for a push on Wilson. After 59 minutes, the ball was played to Cooke on the right corner of the six yard box and he turned to fire in a shot which was blocked by Wilson. Easington restored parity after 70 minutes. Ryan Lincoln-Barrow’s through ball played Liam Adamson in, and he turned before picking out the bottom corner. After 77 minutes, Adamson had the ball in the net again but it was ruled out for offside. A minute later, Adamson was played clear. He rounded the keeper and fired towards the empty net but Alexander Walker got back quickly to clear. In stoppage time, Finch pulled off a good strong save to deny Chester-le-Street a winner from Nichol.
