Chester le Street Town returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Tow Law at the Ironworks Road Ground
They took the lead after 17 minutes, when a quick throw in let Michael Hepplewhite race in from the left to fire in a shot which was deflected for a corner. A minute later, a break down the left set Joshua King free and when his low drive into the middle was not held by keeper Declan Greenwood, it left Jack Oliver with a simple tap in.
Chester came close to a second goal after 22 minutes when Daniel Candlish curled a free kick from 25 yards over the wall but it drifted just wide of the target. After 28 minutes, a ball down the left found Scott Oldfield in space and he cut in to fire a shot just wide of the post. After 35 minutes a ball down the right set Lewis Martin free and he cut into the box but Jack Wilson was quickly out to block the shot with his foot. Tow Law drew level after 40 minutes when a corner from the right was head home by Daniel Kirkup with the Chester le Street players claiming the keeper had been held back. A minute later, Christopher Stephenson lost possession which let Dale Milburn turn inside and fire a good strike towards goal which Wilson tipped over the bar. Tow Law went in front on the stroke of half-time when Milburn again came inside form the left and fired a great shot into the far corner of the net. Chester restored parity after 53 minutes. Owen Henderson made a good run down the right and fired a great shot from the edge of the area which the keeper failed to hold and Michael Hepplewhite fired in the loose ball. After 65 minutes Henderson raced down the right to hit a good cross into the middle which Greenwood tipped over the bar for a corner. The cross was not cleared and Kirkup turned the ball into his own net to put Chester back in front. Two Law nearly grabbed an equaliser after 88 minutes when Kai Hewitson broke through the middle but Wilson made a good save.
