Chester le Street Town finally put their bogey team to rest after winning 2-0 at West Allotment Celtic to maintain their 100% league record. It was the first time Chester had beaten West Allotment in the league in 21 attempts. They came close to taking the lead after 18 minutes, the ball was played down the right and crossed to Cameron Nichol who slipped the ball left for Joshua King to fire in a shot which was deflected for a corner. Two Minutes later, Michael Baxter found some space to fire in a shot which Scott Cresswell, making his annual debut for the absent Jack Wilson, palmed away for a corner. Chester came close again after 27 minutes when some good play set up Nichol but his shot from 15 yards clipped the outside of the post. A minute later, the ball was plated wide right to King and his cross found Kieran Megran but his shot brought a great save from keeper Finlay Hodgson. After 46 minutes, the ball was played through to Nichol on the edge of the area. Megran was waiting in space on his right but Nichol fired in a shot which was comfortably saved by Hodgson. Chester came close again after 62 minutes when Craig Marron played a free kick into the area which was headed down for Megran to fire in a good shot but it was deflected wide. After 69 minutes, Christopher Stephenson was penalised for a foul inside the area Cresswell was up to the event and made a great save from Matthew Hayton’s spot kick. After 81 minutes, Nichol played the ball through for Jack Oliver but he failed to get a good contact on the ball and his shot went wide. Chester finally made the breakthrough after 83 minutes when the ball was played over to the right to Owen Henderson and his cross to the far side was met by King who volleyed home. They sealed their victory with a second goal in stoppage time, making a break down the right and the ball was played into Andrew Clarkson who quickly slipped it on for King to fire in.
