
Chester le Street Town were rather fortunate to maintain their 100% record with hard-fought 1-0 win at Brandon. They did come close to taking another early lead when the ball was played through to Jai Grant but he fired his shot from 25 yards just over the bar. After 35 minutes, the ball was played to Jack Oliver on the edge of the area and he fired in a good shot which needed a good save from keeper Carl Robinson. Chester came close to taking the lead after 43 minutes. A corner was played into the middle and Oliver had his shot blocked. The ball was only cleared to the left side of the box when it was returned into the middle Kieran Megran got a touch but Robinson made a good reaction save to turn the ball onto the post and it was cleared. After 50 minutes, a corner from the right was played towards the near post but Calum Greaves headed over from close range. Chester made the breakthrough after 55 minutes when the ball was played through to Oliver and he made a clinical finish. After 62 minutes Brandon played a corner from the right into the middle for Jordan Lee to get in a decent header but debutant keeper Aaron Steavans made a comfortable save. Chester should have doubled their lead after 74 minutes when a high ball was played into the Brandon area, Robinson only punched the ball into the path of Megran but his first-time volley brought another good save from Robinson. Brandon piled on the pressure in the last ten minutes After 80 minutes, Craig Hindmarch found some space to fire in a shot which brought a great save from Steavans. Two minutes from time, a corner from the left found Niall Fingleton and he fired in a good header which needed another great save from Steavans to prevent the equaliser. In the end a good three points although Brandon made it very difficult for us and we had our keeper to thank for our victory with those two late saves.
