Chester started the season with s 2-0 win over Bedlington Terriers. They created a good opening after 5 minutes when a corner from the right was played to the far side and Mark Peck ran in but he put his header just over the bar. Chester came close to taking a lucky lead when Jack Wilson launched a long clearance into the Bedlington area. Kyle Dobson failed to deal with the header and it clipped the back of his head . It went past keeper Callum Dobson but also went just wide of the post. Chester made the breakthrough after 50 minutes when the ball was played to Kieran Megran just inside the Bedlington area and he was brought down by Ian Heron, who was red-carded and Craig Marron converted the penalty. Bedlington came close to an equaliser after 53 minutes when a cross found Stephen Young and he hit a good first-time shot towards goal but Wilson made a good save. After 58 minutes Megran received the ball inside the area and made a good turn to fire a low shot towards the bottom corner but the keeper made a good save. After 71 minutes Young made a good turn to fire a shot nut it drifted just wide of the post. After 87 minutes Cameron Nichol broke clear but the keeper was quickly off his line to block the ball before Nichol could get in his shot. Chester quickly regained possession and Nichol played the ball across the area for Andrew Clarkson to fire in and seal the result. Not the best of performances but for the first game of the season, a welcome three points.
