The Cestrians produced their best display so far this season with a hard working display against current ENL Div 2 leaders Heaton Stannington to end 2021 with a victory
As early as the first minute Chester le Street could have taken the lead when Owen Henderson broke away down the right before cutting inside to send a rasping shot just wide of the keepers post , Josh Akal then shot over the bar from 18 yards when set up by Matthew Ward with only the keeper to beat The Cestrians were enjoying a lot of the play but were dealt a blow when Michael Hepplewhite had to leave the field not long after receiving a head injury to be replaced by youngster Elliot Judson
After the break Chester le Street continued to press the Heaton defence and should have taken the lead on the hour mark when Josh Akal failed to convert a chance but they were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Jak Mitchell was on hand to fire in from close range past Dan Regan Matthew Ward then set up Elliot Judson to fire home a second goal on 79 minutes Heaton pulled a goal back on 90 minutes through Connor Campbell to end the game
A great team performance with the Supporters MoM award going to Mason Stephenson We now go into a 2 week break before our next game against Durham City on 4 Jan
