Chester le Street Town went down 2-0 at home to Newcastle Benfiled in their final match of the season. It was a fairly even opening but it was Benfield who made the breakthrough after 24 minutes. A long ball down the middle found Paul Brayson who controlled the ball well to fire in a great shot which went into the net off the post. After 30 minutes, Andrew Grant-Soulsby played the ball over from the left to Kieran Megran who hit a first-time volley across goal but it drifted just wide of the far post. After 58 minutes, Dominic Laws latched onto a through ball but his weak shot went straight to the keeper. Two minutes later a ball into the Benfield area was brought down by Megran but his shot deflected off a defender and it went just wide of the post. Benfield sealed the result with the second goal after 76 minutes. The ball was played down the left for John Campbell to race into the area and he slipped the ball past Jack Wilson. After 89 minutes, Campbell played the ball through to Brayson but Wilson was quick off his line to make a good block with his feet. Once again we turned in a good performance but were defeated by two great finishes.
