Chester le Street Town recorded only their second home league victory of the season when they came from behind to beat Dunston 2-1 and complete a double over them this season. Dunston came close to opening the scoring in the first minute when the ball was played into the edge of the area to Warren Byrne and his shot on the turn went just wide of the target. After 6 minutes Liam Thear moved into the area, beat a defender on the edge of the six-yard box and fired in a shot which brought a good save from Jack Wilson. Dunston took the lead after 31 minutes when a corner from the left was met by Daniel Capewell and he climbed well to power a header into the net. Four minutes later, Capewell got onto the end of another left-side corner but he put his header wide. The Cestrian’s equalised after 41 minutes. They were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area and Alex White drove the ball through the wall into the net. After 61 minutes the ball was played into the heart of the Chester le Street area from the right allowing Michael Tait to fire in a shot from close range but home keeper Jack Wilson made a great stop to prevent Dunston regaining the lead. After 78 minutes, Chris Stephenson was penalised for a foul on the edge of the area and a penalty was awarded. However, Wilson made a great stop from Thear’s spot kick. Chester le Street hit the winning goal after 86 minutes when Kieran Megran’s shot from the right went through the keeper’s hands into the net. Another good performance but this time bringing a positive result.
