Chester le Street went down 2-1 in their relegation battle at West Auckland.
They started off well creating a good move after 2 minutes, Jack Wilson hitting a long clearance into the West Auckland half which was flicked on by Lee Mole to Dominic Laws who controlled the ball well to fire in a shot which was saved by keeper Lewis Graham at full stretch. West took the lead after 7 minutes. Ross Gardner played a free kick over to the left and Grant Hickman’s header deflected off Mole into the net. After 19 minutes, Kerry Hedley cut in from the right to fire in a shot which brought a good save from Chester keeper Wilson. Chester equalised after 48 minutes. David Latham received the ball just inside the West area and turned well only to be brought down by David Mitchell with Michael Hepplewhite converting the penalty. West scored what proved to be the winning goal after 54 minutes. Joe Grant was penalised for bringing down Craig Ruddy who stepped up to convert the penalty. Yet another disappointing result.
