Chester le Street Town went out of the Durham Challenge Cup following a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of a Spennymoor Town team which had a mixture of youth and experience on show.
The Cestrians started brightly and an early effort by Hepplewhite went high over the bar. It was then the turn of Spennymoor to create an opening from Andrew Johnson to feed Mark Anderson who shot wide.
Johnson started to create problems down the Chester le Street right hand side and it was the Anderson combination with Johnson which saw Spennymoor take the lead when Johnson was put through and he raced clear to slot home on 21 Mins. Andy Clarkson thought he had equalised on 33 mins when he volleyd in a cross from Alex White only to see Keeper Lowden clear with his legs when diving in the opposite direction.
Spennymoor increased their lead on 41 mins when Anderson cut in from the wing and fired in a near post shot which beat Chester le Street Keeper Jack Wilson and it was Anderson on 44 mins who slipped in Henry to fire home to make it 3-0 at the interval.
Chester le Street had two great chances at the start pf the second half to pull back the score with first Clarkson hitting the bar then Hepplewhite shooting into the side netting when well placed
But it was Johnson of Spennymoor who was to cap a great evenings display with two goals to complete his hat trick
Not a bad display by the Cestrians and they could with a bit better finishing have scored two or three goals
