Chester le Street came away from Durham with an excellent 3-2 victory. They made the breakthrough after 15 minutes when Chris Stephenson raced down the right to the corner of the box and fired a low shot which took a bad bounce in front of the keeper and went into the net. After 21 minutes Alexander Walker broke in from the right to fire a shot across the goal but it went well wide of the target. Chester doubled their lead after 25 minutes when a free kick into the Durham Area was only headed out to Danny Hepplewhite and he fired a good shot across goal into the net. A minute later, Daniel McGuire made a good run to the right by-line and pulled the ball back to Joshua King waiting at the near post but he turned his shot wide of the post. Durham Pulled a goal back after 28 minutes when the Chester le Street defence failed to clear a corner and the ball fell to Christopher Pattinson who fired in. After 36 minute a poor clearance from the Durham keeper was picked up by Connor Lyon who hit a low shot towards the corner and although the keeper was slow going down he still managed to turn the ball away for a corner. Chester increased their advantage after 48 minutes and what a goal it was – probably ‘Goal of the Season’. Mark Peck made a strong run from the half way line and unleashed a cracking shot from 25 yards into the top corner of the net. However, Durham reduced the deficit a minute later when a corner was played in from the left for Pattinson to head down towards the goal and although Jack Wilson got his hand to the ball, he was unable to stop it going in. Chester had to battle hard as Durham pressed forwards in search of an equaliser. After 52 minutes A Craig Marron free kick was intercepted and Durham made a quick break and the ball was played sideways to Bradley Hird in space but although his shot beat Wilson, Peck got back to clear the ball off the line. After 68 minutes, Durham made a break down the left and played through to Pattinson who fired in a good shot with Wilson making a great save to turn the ball onto the bar and away for a corner. After 87 minutes, A corner from the left was hit to the far side and Hird turned the ball towards goal from close range but Stephenson was well-placed to clear the ball off the line. Another great performance with everybody playing their part.
