The Cestrians restored parity within 5 minutes when a good move down the left saw Alex White hit a low cross into the middle for Clarkson to turn into the net. After 41 minutes, Arron Thompson hit a good cross into the middle which was met by Clarkson but his firm header went just over the bar. Chester le Street made a good start to the second half but it was Northallerton who regained the lead after 68 minutes when a corner from the right was bundled into the net by Colin Anderson. Northallerton increased their lead after 76 minutes when Aaron Ramsbottom was allowed to run unchallenged to the edge of the area and he scored with a fine strike. Chester le Street pulled a goal back after 78 minutes when Alex White won possession on the left and slipped the ball through to David Surrey who hit a good cross into the middle for Clarkson to head in. Chester came close to an equaliser after 82 minutes when a long ball was played through to Clarkson and he pulled the ball into the middle to Lee Mole but he put his header just wide of the post. Northallerton sealed their win in the 87th minute when a cross into the middle found Stephen Cheesman in lots of space and he fired in. A very disappointing result from a match that we could and probably should have taken something from. But when you fail to take your chances and then make some poor defensive errors, that is what happens.
