Chester le Street Town ended up with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Esh Winning on Thursday evening. Chester created several good chances in the first half but failed to convert any of them. After 6 minutes, the ball was played in from the right to Daniel McGuire just outside the area and he turned inside a defender to fire a shot just wide of the post. After 11 minutes, Andrew Clarkson made a good cross into the middle but Alexander Walker headed over from close range. After 19 minutes Alex White made a cross into the middle but Clarkson headed wide from close range. Chester did make the breakthrough after 54 minutes when Craig Marron played a free kick deep into the Esh area and Christopher Stephenson nipped in to head the ball into the net. Chester doubled their lead after 69 minutes. A corner was played into the area from the right and it was headed on to Lee Mole who hit a cracking volley into the net. After 85 minutes, Joshua King won possession near the corner flag and played the ball back to McGuire who quickly crossed to the far post but Clarkson headed just wide of the target. A good win despite missing several chances. I can’t remember Esh causing our defence any problems during the whole game.
