Chester le Street Town went down 1-0 at league leaders Tow Law Town.
They made a good break after 15 minutes and a good passing move took them near the Tow Law box where Daniel McGuire slipped the ball inside to Kieran Megran who fired in a good shot which brought a good save from Tow Law keeper, Tom Orton.
Tow Law took the lead after 17 minutes. Andrew Clarkson’s attempted cross field pass was intercepted and the ball played through to Adam Nicholls. He went past a couple of defenders unchallenged and then pulled the ball back into the middle, for the unmarked Lewis Teasdale to fire in. After 21 minutes, Daniel Maddison went through to the edge of the area but fired his shot just wide of the Tow Law goal. After 32 minutes, a quick free kick was played to David Surrey and he moved inside to fire in a shot which brought another good save from Orton. Tow Law were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Chester area on 41 minutes. He fired the kick through the wall but Jack Wilson made a comfortable save low to his left. After 49 minutes a long ball was chased by Maddison and as the keeper rushed from his line his rushed clearance broke to Megran but his shot was hooked clear of the Tow Law line by Kevin Dixon. After 80 minutes, Tow Law made a quick break down the left and Dean Thexton cut inside to fire in a low shot which Wilson managed to scramble clear for a corner. Tow Law came close to a second goal after 85 minutes when Teasdale moved down to the left by-line and crossed to the far post but Thexton headed wide from close range. Chester nearly snatched an equaliser in the last minute when a good passing move between Alex White and Michael Hepplewhite took the ball into the Tow Law area but White saw his effort saved by Orton. It was not a bad performance from our team, but we still looked weak up front.
