Chester le street Town scored three late goal to complete a crushing 7-2 win at Alnwick.
Chester started brightly and took the lead after 9 minutes when Michael Hepplewhite was played down the right and he moved into the box to slip the ball under keeper Robert Hodgson. They doubled their lead after 14 minutes when Alex White moved down the right and played the ball inside to Hepplewhite who quickly pulled the ball back for Kieran Megran to fire in. Chester seemed to take their foot off the pedal and allowed Alnwick back into the game. After 17 minutes a corner from the left was punched out right by Jack Wilson and when the ball was returned to the far side, Darren Riddle was allowed to run in and head home. Alnwick drew level after 28 minutes when Robert Baker ran into the area and turned back to fire into the net. Chester regained the lead after 35 minutes when the ball was played into the heart of the Alnwick area and Hepplewhite brought the ball down and turned well to fire in. Alnwick were reduced to ten men after 36 minutes. Hepplewhite made a break through the middle before he was pulled back on the edge of the area by Peter Scott who was sent off. Craig Marron fired the free kick around the wall but Hodgson made a good save low to his left. Alnwick came close to an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when a shot was blocked by Wilson and Aaron Reynolds had to clear the ball off the line. Chester dominated the second period. After 51 minutes Megran fired in a good shot which brought another good save from Hodgson. Chester increased their lead after 61 minutes when a corner to the near post was headed on for Mark Peck to head in at the back post. After 77 minutes Joshua King raced clear but his chip over the keeper went just over the bar. After 85 minutes a corner from the right was headed on by Kevin Dixon for Peck to head in at the back post. Two minutes later, Daniel McGuire raced through from the left to fire in and two minutes later, the ball was played through to King and he completed the scoring.
