Chester le Street Town conceded two late goals to lose 3-1 at Billingham Town in this ENL Div 2 game . Billingham came close to taking the lead after 15 minutes when the ball was played in from the left to Reece Keeney who turned well to fire in a good shot but it crashed against the post. After 20 minutes, the ball played through the middle to Lee Mole on the edge of the Billingham box. He turned well to drive in a good, low shot which keeper, Liam Glass managed to block. Glass recovered quickly to gather the ball before Kieran Megran could reach the ball. Chester took the lead after 30 minutes when the ball was played into the area and turned home by Callum Greaves. After 47 minutes, the ball was played down the left to Megran who hooked the ball towards the far side. It took a deflection off Stephen Oakley and was looping towards the top corner of the net before Glass made a great save to deny the Cestrian’s their second goal. Billingham drew level after 49 minutes. They made a break down the left and crossed the ball to Brandon Kirkbride on the right edge of the box. He was allowed to move left unchallenged and fire low into the corner of the net. After 51 minutes, Joshua King won possession on the left and hit a good, low cross to Megran of the far side but the ball bobbled as he was about to tap in and he couldn’t make any contact. After 70 minutes, Ashley Lavan crossed from the right to Elliott Beddow but he fired well over the bar from a good position. After 75 minutes, Aaron Reynolds crossed from the right to Megran on the far side. He passed the ball back to Michael Hepplewhite but he didn’t make a good contact and Glass was able to save. A minute later, Chester made a good passing move which saw the ball reach Mole in a good position but his shot went straight to the keeper. Billingham went in front after 85 minutes when Chester failed to deal with a corner and the ball was headed on for Lavan to fire in. Billingham sealed the result in stoppage time. With Chester pushing forwards looking for an equaliser, they were caught out by a long ball and although Beddow looked to be well offside, he was allowed to continue and fire in. A disappointing result, especially as we had some good chances to have earned a victory.
